Brief Profile
Joshin John is currently working as a faculty in the operations and supply chain management area at Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship. He has a doctorate (fellow) in management from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, and is a graduate mechanical engineer from College of Engineering Trivandrum (University of Kerala). Dr. John has over 15 years of experience in industry, research & consulting roles. He started his career as a Design Engineer with Larsen & Toubro Ltd. in the Ocean Engineering Department. Subsequently, he has worked in technical, managerial and consulting capacities on several projects in shipbuilding, and upstream oil & gas sectors. He has also undertaken research projects on sustainability, environmentally conscious operations, and closed loop supply chains in manufacturing and maritime transport sectors. In recent years, Dr. John has published several articles in international (ABDC listed) journals such as International Journal of Strategic Decision Sciences, South Asian Journal of Management, Journal of Applied Business & Economics, and Operations & Supply Chain Management: An International Journal (OSCM). He has also authored 5 cases that are distributed by Ivey Publishing (Canada) and Harvard Business Publishing. In 2018, he was awarded the prestigious Paul Lawrence Fellowship by North American Case Research Association (NACRA), and Case Research Foundation (CRF) for his work on case development. In 2019, he was selected for the best case award for developing a field case on "DC operations during Kerala Floods (2018)" by Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS). Dr. John's current interests include Humanitarian Response Operations, Energy Sustainability, development of Product-Service Systems (PSS) and Decision Support Systems (DSS) for businesses and non-profits.
