Thirty Years of India-s Liberalization

26 February 2021

The liberalisation of Indian economy has ushered in a new epoch of rapid growth and profound systemic change. Indeed, there is a view, articulated famously by a scholar, that the opening in 1991 was not limited to the economy, but to all aspects of life and that its long-term impact on India would be similar to what was witnessed in Western Europe following the Renaissance.

With thirty years having passed in pursuit of liberalisation, an overview of its effects across the economy and an assessment of the nation’s economic policies and performance thus far and the outlook for the future form the theme of this seminar.

It features a panel of speakers of high repute who have over the years enlightened national opinion on the subject of the economic reforms through their discourse in the public fora, research, articles and books.

The seminar is in line with XIME’s tradition of hosting conferences on themes of topical significance for management and management education.

It is a sequel to the institute’s seminars marking the Twenty Years of India’s Liberalisation which were held in Bangalore, Chennai and Kochi during 2011-2012.
