The Challenging Sibling

 

XIME Kochi is coming up as a challenging sibling to its 26-year old Big Sister, XIME Bangalore. This is evident from its achievements during the short span of five years of its existence. Some of the major students’ achievements are mentioned below:

Key Winnings by the Students

  • At Talentime 34, the Management Fest organized by Cusat from 26th to 27th October 2017, XIME Kochi students retained the overall championship at the same event this year too bagging majority of the prizes. The winners for various events were
    • Vikash Singh, Deep Raj Singh, Dhiraj Changia & Sarthak Jain won the Marketing event - Renascence.
    • Sinduja Kandaswamy, Steve Simon Mathews, Shree Priya & Shruti Mohandas won the CSR game - Amortentia.
    • Reuben Thomas, Neethu Babu, Athira Antony & Deepak Divakar won the HR game - Aparecium.
    • Rahul Majumdar, Siddharth Sahoo, Cyril Charly & Isaac Khan won the Finance Game - Gringotts Galleon.
    • Nabeel Akhtar, Manoj Chilukuri Sree Vatsan & Vishal Agarwal were the runners up for the Finance Game - Gringotts Galleon.
    • Tejus John, Bunny Sidhu, Ramya Bharathi & Megha Pramod were the runners up for the Entrepreneurial Game - World of Warcraft.
  • At XIMERA 2017, XIME Bangalore - Mr. Deepak Diwakar & Mr. Nikhil B of XIME Kochi won second position in the Operations event while Mr. Karthikeyan and Mr. Jayanthan won the second position in CSR Event.
  • At DCSMAT 2017, Vagamon - Mr. Chintalapudi Satya, Mr. Dhiraj Changia, Mr. Deep Raj Singh &
    Mr. Siddharth Lenka won the Second position in Marketing Event on 14th October 2017

  • At SCMS Kochi - Winners - Operation Game “ Shikhar”, Tech management Fest held by SCMS, Kochi, 28-29th January 2016- Satheesh Kumar and Ashwin Mohan
  • At XIME Bangalore - Winner -  Maria Philip Best Speaker Award, held at XIME Bangalore, 2nd April 2016 – Rohit Dodla
  • Ms. Sinduja Kandasamy (Batch 4), won the JASSO Scholarship of 80,000 JPY per Month at NUCB, Japan
  • Mr. Sai Abhishek (Batch 4) was awarded with a special appreciation certificate for his SIP work in NALCO by the DGM, NALCO.
  • At NIPM National Level Quiz Championship - Mr. Ajay Kumar A and Mr. Abheeshek RR won the NIPM National Level Quiz Championship Held at Chennai on 14th September 2017.
  • AT MMA - Mr. Rahul Majumdhar and Mr. Shubam Goswami won the Quiz Competition conducted by Madras Management Association in Chennai on 23rd September 2017. Xime Kochi is winning this for the fourth time consecutively.
  • At Bhavan’s Royal Institute - Mr. Sidharth Sahoo, Mr.Richard Pears, Mr. Rahul Majumdhar and Mr, Issac Khan Won the Best Management Team Award for the Management fest conducted at Bhavan’s Royal Institute on 4th October 2017.
  • At INFLORE 2017- Mr. Nabeel Akthar, Mr. Abheeshek R, Mr. Vishal Agarwal and Mr. Sreevatsan won the first Prize in the Finance Game and Mr. Nibu Koshy and Ms. Aiswarya Gosh won the Second prize in the HR Game for the INFLORE, the management fest conducted by Rajagiri Business School on 6-7th on October 2017.
  • Mr. Deepak Divakar, Mr. Reuban Thomas, Mr. C Manoj and Mr. Gokul S won the best Management Team Award and Mr. Sourav Agarwal, Mr.Gourav Agarwal, Mr, Utkarsh Sharma and Mr. Kishan Mundhra won the First prize in Finance Game for TARANG, the management fest conducted by NIT, Calicut on 8-9th of October 2017.
  • Chintalapudi Satya, Dhiraj Changia, Deep Raj Singh and Siddharth Lenka won the second prize in the Marketing Event for Luminance 2K17, the management fest conducted by Dcsmat, Vagamon on 13-14th October, 2017.

Club Activities: 

  • XSEED, the Xseed Club of XIME Kochi was inaugurated on 2nd August 2017 by Dr. S. Sudheendran, Clinical Professor, Amrita Hospital. 

 

  •  X-Ops, the Operations club of XIME Kochi was inaugurated by Mr. Jerry Jacob Mathew, DGM-Nippon Toyota and Mr. Cerine Pathrose, Assistant Manager- Nitta Gelatin on 29th July 2017.

 

  • Finitiative, the Finance Club of XIME Kochi was inaugurated by Mr. Jomon K. George (FCA), Managing Partner of JVR & Associates on 2nd August 2017.

 

  • Empresario, The Entrepreneurship Club of XIME Kochi, was inaugurated by Mr. Sandith Thandassery, CEO of NavAlt Solar & Electric Boats on 5th August, 2017.

 

  • HRuday, the HR Club was inaugurated by Mr. Krishna Prasad, Head-HR, Idea Cellular Ltd on 29th July 2017.

 

  • MARKXIME , the marketing club of XIME, Kochi was inaugurated on 2nd of August 2017 by Mr. Satish Vijayan, Chief Manger, Digital Marketing, Manappuram Finance

 

Josh talks - "Stories. Ambition. Ideas. knowledge. Future."

Josh Talks 2017, held in association with Facebook, was hosted by XIME Kochi  with a view to enlighten and inspire future entrepreneurs and young minds. The event was introduced by Mr. Rajat Arora, policy program manager at Facebook, India.

All Kerala Maria Philip Debate Competition

All Kerala Maria Philip Memorial Debate is an annual event organized and conducted with great enthusiasm to promote the debating skills of college students of Kerala and to develop them as great speakers having potential to influence the society. It is organized every year in memory of Maria Philip, daughter of the Principal Founder and President of XIME, who was a born leader and a great speaker.  This year also the competition was organized at two levels: Zonal Level and Finals. There were three zonal level competitions and the first three teams in each zone competed at the Finals along with the XIME Kochi team, which was eligible only for the Best Speaker Award and not for the Overall Trophy for the Best Debating Team.

The North Zone Prelims of All Kerala Maria Philip Memorial Debate Competition, 2017, were conducted at Farook Institute of Management on 13th September 2017.  A total of 15 Teams registered for the debate.

The winners of North Zone debate were:

1st Position: Chinmaya Arts & Science for Women, Kannur

2nd Position: Providence College, Calicut

3rd Position: School of Management Studies, NIT Calicut

The South Zone Prelims were conducted at Assumption College, Changanassery on 14th of September, 2017. A total of 16 Teams registered for the debate.

The winners of the South Zone debate were:

1st Position: Assumption College, Changanasserry

2nd Position: Kuriakose Gregorious college, Pampady

3rd Position: College of Engineering, Chengannur

The Central Zone Prelims were conducted at Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara on 19th of September, 2017. A total of 16 Teams registered for the debate.

The winners of the Central Zone debate were:

1st Position: Christ College, Irinjalakuda

2nd Position: Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Kakkanad

3rd Position: Sacred Heart College, Thevara

The finals of the “All Kerala Maria Philip Memorial Debate Competition, 2017”, the most prestigious event of XIME was conducted on 26/09/2017 at Hotel Asset Summit Suites, Kalamassery. Mr. Sebastian Paul, former MP and senior advocate of the High court of Kerala was the chief guest for the event. Like its previous editions, this year also there was participation from all the zonal winners along with the home team. Nine teams competed with each other for the winning trophy. Ms. Lida Jacob IAS (Retd.), Mr. M. P. Jospeh IAS (Retd.), Ms. Mini Monesh (Group HR Head of Eastern Group) and Mr. S. Bindish (Circle Head- Kerala, Axis Bank) were the judges for the finals. Ms. Lida Jacob chaired the panel of the judges. After the debate, our beloved President Prof. J Philip and the judges pointed out in their speeches that, with each passing year the quality of the participants taking part in this prestigious event is going up and that they are delighted to see the kind of response that this event is gaining from different parts of Kerala.

For the judges, it was a tough call to decide the winners. After much discussion, finally Ms. Divya Devassy and Ms. Alphy Tom of Christ College, Irinjalakuda were selected as the winners. They received the cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and the rolling trophy from the chief guest, Mr. Sebastian Paul.

Ms. Priya Alphonsa Mathew and Ms. Minna Jose of Sacred Heart College, Thevara were selected as the first runners up and they received the cash prize of Rs. 20,000.

Ms. Minna Jose of Sacred Heart College, Thevara was selected as the Best Speaker and received the cash prize of Rs. 15,000.

QUEST 2017

Quest 2017 the management fest of XIME was officially kicked off with the Dean Academics, Dr. T.V. Francy inaugurating the event in the presence of the XIME student fraternity and the participants from other colleges. Quest 2017 saw a first of its kind participation levels with a total of 240 students representing 22 different colleges across India. Quest 2017 was a combination of management events, in the areas of Marketing, Finance, HR &Operations, along with Best Manager, Business Quiz, CSR Event and Entrepreneurship event. These were accompanied by Spot dance, Gaming and 5’s football, all spanning over a 2-day period of 20-21 October 2017. Day 1 ended with DJ.

The valedictory function was presided over by Ms. Eesha Priya IAS, Asst. collector, Ernakulam, in the presence of Dr. Manoj Varghese, Director, XIME Kochi and Dr. T.V. Francy, Dean Academics. Prizes were distributed and Christ University, Bangalore bagged the overall championship of Quest 2017, beating 21 other colleges. The curtain for Quest 2017 fell with the cultural night that was organized for the students in the evening.
